Your Path to Becoming a Professional Coach

Start your UW–Madison professional coaching education here! This free course provides an overview of our professional coaching model, programs and courses, team members and learner expectations. You’ll gain a clear understanding of what it takes to become a professional coach and identify the best next step in your learning pathway.

Program learning objectives:

• Describe the mission, vision and accreditation that guide our professional coaching programs and explain how they shape your learning experience. 
• Identify the key principles of our coaching model and recognize how they appear in real coaching demonstrations. 
• Explain the roles of instructors, mentor coaches and support staff and discover how our team-based approach supports your growth as a learner. 
• Evaluate the different coaching program pathways and determine your best next step using the course’s decision-making tools and activities.

This course is 100% online, asynchronous and entirely self-paced, allowing you to learn whenever and wherever it fits your schedule. The entire experience takes approximately two hours to complete. You will engage with the material through video demonstrations, instructor insights and brief overview readings. To help lock in your learning, you will complete interactive self-reflection activities and a decision-making flowchart, which will give you immediate clarity on your next steps in your professional coaching education.
